Topaz is the hardest of the silicate minerals. It is formed form
fluorine-bearing gases released during the later stages of
solidification in acidic igneous rocks. Most probably, the name was derived from
the Sanskrit word "tapas" meaning "fire."
Topaz is most familiar with yellow while red topaz is the rarest. Though, blue
topaz is created when radiation is applied to
colorless topaz . Topaz is susceptible to hard blows because of its fine &
fragile cuttings. Beads made of topaz are
available in a large variety of sizes, from tiny crystals to large rocks.
